Tip: text PDFs convert best
If your PDF was created from a document (Word, Pages, Google Docs), the text is selectable and converts cleanly into editable Word text. If it's a scanned PDF — basically a photo of a page — the converted file will contain that image, and you'd need text recognition (OCR) to make the words editable. To check, try selecting text in the PDF: if you can highlight it, it'll convert to editable text.
