You saved an image from a website, and now it's a .webp file that won't open in your editor, won't upload to a form, or won't print. WEBP is great for fast-loading web pages — but it's not accepted everywhere. Converting it to plain old JPG or PNG fixes that instantly, and you can do it on your iPhone.
What is WEBP, and why convert it?
WEBP is an image format made by Google to make web images smaller and faster. More and more sites serve images this way, so when you long-press and save a picture, you often get a WEBP. The catch: many apps, marketplaces, design tools and printers still expect JPG or PNG. Converting gives you a file that works everywhere.

- If the image is in Photos, open it and tap Share → Save to Files. Downloads from Safari are already in Files → Downloads.
