Why do I keep getting WEBP files?

WEBP is a web image format from Google. Sites use it because it loads faster than JPG or PNG, so when you save an image from Chrome or Safari you often get a .webp file. Photos apps, Office documents, older Windows viewers and many upload forms still expect JPG or PNG.

Choose PNG if the WEBP has a transparent background (stickers, logos); choose JPG for photos.
