Why convert JPG to PNG?

PNG stores pixels without compression loss, so a PNG will not degrade further no matter how many times you edit and re-save it. Designers convert JPGs to PNG before layering, adding text or cutting out a background, and some upload forms, game mods and print services ask for PNG specifically.

Be aware that converting cannot restore detail a JPG already lost, and PNG files are larger — often 3–5× the JPG size for photos. If you only need a smaller file, use the image compressor instead.

Private conversion

Your file is opened by your own browser and converted on your device. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue, no file-size quota and no copy left on someone else's server. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and the conversion still works.
