WAV to MP3 Converter

WAV files are uncompressed and huge — about 10 MB per minute. Convert them to MP3 to cut the size by up to 90% for sharing, email and streaming.

How to convert WAV to MP3

  1. 1

    Add WAV files

Also accepts AIFF and, in most browsers, FLAC.

  2. 2

    Choose bitrate

320 kbps for music masters you are sharing, 128–192 kbps for everything else.

  3. 3

    Download MP3s

Save individually or as one ZIP.

How much smaller is MP3?

A 3-minute stereo WAV at CD quality is about 31 MB. As a 192 kbps MP3 it is roughly 4.3 MB; at 128 kbps about 2.9 MB. Keep your WAV originals for editing — MP3 is for listening and sharing.

Private conversion

Your file is opened by your own browser and converted on your device. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue, no file-size quota and no copy left on someone else's server. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and the conversion still works.

What about the ConvertEase iPhone app?

Being straightforward: the iPhone app does not create MP3 files — on iOS it converts audio to M4A, WAV and AAC, and converts video between MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI and 3GP. For MP3, this web page is the right tool, and it works in Safari on iPhone.

The app is free to download; saving results requires a ConvertEase Premium subscription.
